The extract of Chrysanthemum indicum Linne inhibits EBV LMP1-induced NF-κB activation and the viability of EBV-transformed lymphoblastoid cell lines

► Ethanol extracts of 188 medicinal plants were screened for NF-κB inhibitory activity. ► Chrysanthemum indicum Linne extract (CIE) inhibits Epstein-Barr virus LMP1-induced NF-κB activation. ► CIE inhibits LMP1-induced NF-κB activation by blocking IKKα or IKKβ activation. ► CIE treatment selectively kills EBV transformed lymphoblastoid cell lines. ► CIE has potent inhibitory effect on EBV-transformed LCL viability.
