Inhibitory effect of mulberroside A and its derivatives on melanogenesis induced by ultraviolet B irradiation

► Mulberroside A and its derivatives reduced the pigmentation in UVB-irradiated skin. ► They reduced melanogenesis by suppressing the expression of melanogenic enzymes. ► Their inhibitory effects increased according to their deglycosylation degree. ► They may be suitable as a potent photoprotective agent for skin exposed to UVB.
