Comparative evaluation of the hypolipidemic effects of hydroxyethyl methylcellulose (HEMC) and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) in high fat-fed mice

► Compared with HPMC, HEMC was similarly effective in reducing body weight gain and body fat in mice fed with high fat diet. ► HEMC & HPMC decreased plasma triglyceride and total cholesterol and increased HDL-cholesterol levels in high fat-fed mice. ► Both HEMC and HPMC may be beneficial for the prevention and treatment of high fat diet-induced hyperlipidemia.
