In vitro effects of ethanol and mouthrinse on permeability in an oral buccal mucosal tissue construct

► EpiOral oral buccal mucosal construct used to model mouthrinse rinsing. ► Caffeine permeability unchanged by ethanol and ethanol-containing mouthrinses. ► No acetaldehyde or acetic acid detected in culture media. ► Caffeine Js, Kp and flux lag time were unchanged. ► No cytotoxicity or histopathological effects were observed in tissues.
