Nursing informatics courses provide valuable learning experiences related to the discovery and use of information and technology in clinical care situations. However, there is often limited hands-on application of course-specific skills and content. As a result, students may not connect the dots between the tools and skills acquired in the course with the actual clinical environment. Video-recorded human patient simulation scenarios (HPSS) may offer unique opportunities to share information with larger numbers of student nurses at varying levels of study in a cost-effective and less time-consuming manner. Minimal information exists to provide guidance for the development of video-recorded HPSS. The purpose of this article is to outline the process of a collaboration, including faculty with expertise in informatics, simulation, media, and library sciences to produce a real-life-based HPSS video for use in a nursing informatics course.
