Identification and characterization of the chicken galanin receptor GalR2 and a novel GalR2-like receptor (GalR2-L)

► The chicken galanin type II receptor (GalR2) was cloned. ► Identification of a novel GalR2-like receptor (GalR2-L) in chickens. ► GalR2 and GalR2-L are widely expressed in chicken tissues including oviduct. ► Chicken GalR2 and GalR2-L are functionally coupled to the Gs and Gq proteins. ► Galanin-like peptide activates the chicken galanin receptors with low potencies.
