Two- and three-locus haplotypes of the paraoxonase (PON1) gene are associated with coronary artery disease in Asian Indians

► Three SNPs(L55M, Q192R and -108C/T) of the PON1 gene were studied in Asian Indians. ► R allele (PON1Q 192R) associated with the risk of CAD. ► Haplotype LQ and QT were protective; MR and MC significantly associated with the risk of CAD. ► MRT, a minor three locus haplotype showed significant association with CAD. ► Haplotypes, thus, brought better insight into the relations of PON1 SNPs with CAD.
