Inflammatory response of porcine epithelial IPEC J2 cells to enterotoxigenic E. coli infection is modulated by zinc supplementation

► ETEC infection of intestinal cells in vitro induced innate immune response gene expression. ► Treatment with zinc oxide regulated this increase in expression. ► It is proposed that this occurs via inhibition of NF-κB by zinc, via heat shock proteins.
