Molecular phylogeny of the Robust clade (Faviidae, Mussidae, Merulinidae, and Pectiniidae): An Indian Ocean perspective

► An extended COI and rDNA phylogeny of the scleractinian Robust clade is presented. ► Indian Ocean taxa and populations are analyzed for the first time. ► The genus Parasimplastrea, not related to the Bigmessidae, is closest to Blastomussa. ► Plasticity of the unresolved Favites and Favia is shown at species and clade level. ► Intraspecific divergences between Indian and Pacific Ocean populations are detected.
