Genome scan of the mitten crab Eriocheir sensu stricto in East Asia: Population differentiation, hybridization and adaptive speciation

► We examine genetic structure and evolutionary history of mitten crabs in East Asia. ► Pleistocene glaciation is the primary force in shaping the genetic structure. ► Selection is the secondary and human activity is the minimal evolutionary forces for the structure. ► Current and historical hybridizations were respectively detected in two sympatric zones. ► Adaptive speciation due to selection from temperature rather than habitat was proposed.
