A molecular phylogeny of the pan-tropical pond skater genus Limnogonus Stål 1868 (Hemiptera-Heteroptera: Gerromorpha-Gerridae)

► The two subgenera Limnogonus s.str. and Limnogonoides are not reciprocally monophyletic. ► L. luctuosus from Australia and Moorea probably represents new or unrecognized species. ► L. fossarum from the Andaman Is. probably represents a new subspecies or even full species. ► Limnogonus has two independent transitions from the Old World to the New World.
