Heterologous expression and characterization of a sigma glutathione S-transferase involved in carbaryl detoxification from oriental migratory locust, Locusta migratoria manilensis (Meyen)

► A full length glutathione S-transferase cDNA from Locusta migratoria manilensis was identified. ► Recombinant LmGSTs3 was over-expressed in Escherichia coli and characterized. ► Heavy metal (CuSO4, CdCl2) exposure decreased LmGSTs3 activity. ► LmGSTs3 may be involved in carbaryl detoxification in L. migratoria manilensis.
