Prenatal LPS exposure reduces olfactory perception in neonatal and adult rats

► Prenatal LPS impaired behavior and neurochemical properties of the olfactory system. ► Male rats were impaired in maternal preference and in aversion to cat olfactory cues. ► Dopamine levels were decreased in the olfactory bulb (OB). ► There were no dopaminergic system and glial cell protein expression changes in the OB. ► Changes in maternal care were not responsible for the impairments in their offspring.
