Time course of behavioral, physiological, and morphological changes after estradiol treatment of ovariectomized rats

► Multiple EB treatment effects were assessed at multiple time points in OVX rats. ► ISOP-induced water intake was reduced 24 and 48 h, but not 90 min, after EB. ► Uterine weight was increased 24 and 48 h, but not 90 min, after EB. ► Body weight decreased 48 h, but not 24 h, after EB. ► Plasma Na+ and volume were not affected by EB at any time point. ► Classic genomic actions of EB affect drinking, body weight, and uterine weight.
