Fretting wear behaviors of steel wires in coal mine under different corrosive mediums

► The fretting running regimes of fretting wear can be determined according to the curves of friction force versus displacement amplitude (Ft-D curves) and damage morphologies, and the running condition fretting map (RCFM) of steel wires under different corrosive mediums was established. ► The fretting wear mechanisms in different fretting running regimes under different corrosive mediums and the effects of different corrosive mediums on the fretting wear mechanisms were analyzed.
