Control of working memory: Effects of attention training on target recognition and distractor salience in an auditory selection task

► Suppression of distractors in an auditory selective attention task was trained. ► Behavioral changes in reaction times, sensitivity and criterion were noted. ► Electrophysiological changes were seen in N1 latency, P2 amplitude and P3 amplitudes. ► Amplitudes of P2 to distractors and P3 to targets were related.
