Differential localization of neuregulin-1 type III in the central and peripheral nervous system

► A specific high affinity anti-NRG 1 (III) antibody was raised in chickens. ► Robust axonal immunostaining was observed in the PNS. ► NRG 1 (III) immunostaining was absent in CNS axons. ► NRG 1 (III) immunostaining was restricted to dendrites and neuronal soma. ► Role of NRG 1 (III) in CNS myelination may be more indirect than in PNS.
