An in vitro injury model for SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells: Effect of strain and strain rate

► Biaxial stretch injury model applied to SHSY-5Y cells cultured on silicone substrate. ► Precisely characterized strain and strain rates with high speed imaging system. ► Identified three injury regimes in stretch-induced dose-response curves of cells. ► Sharp decline from live to dead is noted in a narrow range of strain (30-55%). ► Our in vitro model is useful in precise evaluation of injury criterion (risk) curves.
