Intrinsic connectivity networks and personality: The temperament dimension harm avoidance moderates functional connectivity in the resting brain

► Resting state fMRI is applied to study neural correlates of personality. ► Functional connectivities within the insular salience network are stronger in highly anxious individuals. ► Functional coupling of the DLPFC and the dACC with a seed region in the anterior insula covaries with trait anxiety. ► Results support previous work on the insular network and state anxiety. ► Results are in line with the hypothesized role of the insular network in anxiety disorders.
