High-frequency rTMS improves facial mimicry and detection responses in an empathic emotional task

► High-frequency TMS on MPFC increases empathic behaviour. ► Performance (correct responses and response times) was higher in case of MPFC stimulation. ► Autonomic (EMG) activity was increased by MPFC as a function of emotional valence. ► Negative emotions were better detected and “simulated” than positive or neutral stimuli. ► Detection performance and EMG measures were positively correlated.
