Phenology and climate relationships in aspen (Populus tremuloides Michx.) forest and woodland communities of southwestern Colorado

Ten-year time series of start of season for an area of southwestern Colorado with large contiguous populations of aspen (Populus tremuloides Michx.) The black line demarks the focus area for this study. Temporal resolution for USGS phenology metrics is one day, data are binned into one week categories for display clarity. Lowland shrub and grassland communities in the southeastern areas have earlier SOST than the foothills and mountain slopes. River corridors are also earlier than surrounding hills and plateaus.
