Comparing predictions from mixed model equations with host range determinations from historical disease evaluation data of two previously released weed biological control pathogens

► BLUP analyses were conducted on historical data of two released weed pathogens. ► BLUPs substantiated currently available information on host range of these pathogens. ► BLUPs were accurate predictors of host range. ► No unforeseen non-target effects could be expected in nature on the basis of BLUPs. ► Results confirmed the validity of this approach in host-range determination.
