Pyrene exposure influences the thyroid development of Sebastiscus marmoratus embryos

► Pyrene exposure disturbed the development of thyroid in Sebastiscus marmoratus embryos. ► Pyrene decreased the thyroid hormone T3 and thyroid receptors gene expression. ► Pyrene impaired the expression of Pax2.1, Nk2.1a, Fgfr2 and Hoxa3a gene related to thyroid development. ► The expression of thyroid function related genes, Deio1, Ttr, and Tg was altered by pyrene.
