Histopathological effects and determination of the putative receptor of Bacillus thuringiensis Cry1Da toxin in Spodoptera littoralis midgut

► Cry1Da toxin is active against Spodoptera littoralis. ► The corresponding LC50 was evaluated to 224.4 ng/cm2. ► Extensive damage was detected in Cry1Da-treated larvae. ► Cry1Da recognized midgut putative receptor of about 65 kDa. ► Homologous competition showed high specificity of Cry1Da toxin to its receptor.
