Superspecial abelian varieties over finite prime fields

In this paper, we determine the number of isomorphism classes of superspecial abelian varieties A over the prime field Fp within a rational isogeny class. This generalizes a result of Deuring on the number of supersingular elliptic curves over F¯p that have a model defined over Fp.
