CFD modeling of the Dry-Sorbent-Injection process for flue gas desulfurization using hydrated lime

► The SO2 adsorption process in a DSI plant with Ca(OH)2 is numerically simulated. ► The strong 3D effects of the flow field on the desulfurization are clearly shown and analyzed. ► A mixing efficiency parameter, ξmix, is introduced. ► ξmix univocally identifies the more efficient plant's configuration.
