Novel antibifouling nanofiltration polyethersulfone membrane fabricated from embedding TiO2 coated multiwalled carbon nanotubes

► TiO2 was coated on oxidized MWCNT and used in fabrication of blend PES membrane. ► Coating of TiO2 on the surface of MWCNT improved hydrophilicity of the membranes. ► Pure water flux of the membranes increased with the content of TiO2 coated MWNTs. ► Mixing TiO2 coated MWCNT in PES matrix enhanced membrane antifouling properties. ► Antifouling improvement was due to photocatalytic activity of TiO2 coated MWCNT.
