Catalytic performance in selective hydrogenation of citral of bimetallic Pt-Sn catalysts supported on MgAl2O4 and γ-Al2O3

▶ The highest Sn content added to Pt increases the selectivity to UA. ▶ PtSn(3 wt%)/Al2O3 catalyst displays the highest selectivity value to UA (88%). ▶ For PtSn/Al2O3, both dilution and electronic effects were found. ▶ For PtSn/MgAl2O4 only geometric effects appear to take place. ▶ The presence of alloy particles in PtSn/Al2O3 would increase selectivity values.
