Pt-Re synergy in aqueous-phase reforming of glycerol and the water-gas shift reaction

- Activity of PtRe/C in APR of glycerol increases with Re.
- Acetaldehyde decomposition: PtRe more active in C-C bond cleavage than Pt/C.
- Formation of acid sites (Re-OH) in PtRe: increased C-O cleavage rates.
- Water activation promoted by Re confirmed by CO stripping voltammetry.
- High APR activity of PtRe correlates with high WGS activity.
