Land-use, temperature, and single-family residential water use patterns in Portland, Oregon and Phoenix, Arizona

► We explore spatial variation in temperature sensitivity (TS) of SFR water use in Portland and Phoenix. ► TS correlates with low-density development in Portland. ► TS correlates with lawns but not necessarily low-density development in Phoenix. ► Sensitivity of household water use to temperature variation provides information for climate change adaptation.
