Effects of solvents on the growth of an asymmetrical photochromic diarylethene crystal

A new asymmetrical photochromic diarylethene was synthesized and two types of crystals were formed in different solvent systems. Moreover, the diarylethene could be used as a multi-addressable fluorescence switch when triggered with light and protons.
