An accurate force-displacement law for the modelling of elastic-plastic contacts in discrete element simulations

By using finite element simulations an accurate model for the normal force-displacement relationship between elastic-plastic spheres for use in discrete element method (DEM) simulations has been developed. The model has been implemented into an existing DEM code and is validated against the results from finite element simulations.
