Biodiesel production and comparison of emissions of a DI diesel engine fueled by biodiesel-diesel and canola oil-diesel blends at high idling operations

► Quality biodiesel from pure and used canola oil is produced by transesterification. ► A diesel engine is tested with biodiesel-diesel and canola oil-diesel blends. ► CO and HC reduction with biodiesel-diesel blends is significant compared to diesel. ► Up to 5% biodiesel or canola oil blends, there is no NOx increase compared to diesel. ► NO2 production at high idling is more than 50% of total NOx.
