Hydrolysis of concentrated suspensions of steam pretreated Arundo donax

► Arundo donax was pretreated by using a novel process developed by Chemtex. ► The efficiency of this process was compared with the Staketech batch technology. ► Cellic™ CTEC1 and CTEC2 from Novozymes were used in various process conditions. ► The enzymatic hydrolysis was investigated at high dry matter loadings up to 20%. ► The highest concentration of sugars obtained after 48 h of hydrolysis was 91 g/L.
