Techno-economic comparison between different technologies for a CCS power generation plant integrated with a sub-bituminous coal mine in Italy

► The economic performance of the main CO2-free clean coal technologies are compared. ► A coal-fired 660 MWe power plant located in S-W Sardinia is considered as reference. ► Coal gasification results the most profitable technology for a CO2-free plant. ► Supercritical combustion can be competitive for “partial capture”. ► A CO2-free plant can be profitable only with a significant financial support.
