Recycling phosphorus by fast pyrolysis of pig manure: Concentration and extraction of phosphorus combined with formation of value-added pyrolysis products

► Pyrolysis is suitable to concentrate P from pig manure as leachable phosphate. ► Leach yield does not depend on pyrolysis temperature; char: 60%-90%, ash: 100%. ► Maximum organic liquid yield of 26.3% at 500 °C pyrolysis, with HHV of 28.5 MJ kg−1. ► Char phosphorus value is estimated at 0.81 € t−1-0.86 € t−1 of pig manure. ► Final pyrolysis costs estimated around 0.4 € t−1-4.4 € t−1 for pig manure.
