Towards a standard for soil and terrain data exchange: SoTerML

► We developed an XML schema as a soil and terrain data exchange format (SoTerML). ► The designing approach was to incorporate as much flexibility and reuse as possible. ► SoTerML encompasses the existing major databases, standards and classifications. ► The functionality of the model is demonstrated as an OGC Web Feature Service.
