Simultaneous identification of excitation time histories and parametrized structural damages

► We propose a method for simultaneous identification of excitations and damages. ► Only damage parameters are treated as optimization variables. ► Structural response is interpolated with respect to damage parameters. ► Numerical costs are further decreased by the virtual distortion method. ► The approach is verified numerically and experimentally.
