A spatial and temporal analysis of child pedestrian crashes in Santiago, Chile

► Seven critical areas in Santiago, Chile concentrate high child pedestrian risk rates during the period 2000-2008. ► Two of the identified critical areas belong to a lower middle socioeconomic level. ► The critical areas situated within the districts of Santiago and Estacion Central overlap with the high school density. ► There is a strong spatial and temporal dependence of child pedestrian crashes with respect the pedestrian responsibility.
