Aggregation and adsorption behavior of low concentration aqueous solutions of hexadecyltrimethylammonium ortho, meta, and parafluorobenzoate

► Solution properties of fluorobenzoic acids (FBAs) were studied. ► Micellization of hexadecyltrimethylammonium fluorobenzoates (HTAFBs) was studied. ► The position of the fluorine atom in the counterion strongly affects these properties. ► Experimental results were explained via computational simulation.
