Thickness effect on particle erosion resistance of thermoplastic polyurethane coating on steel substrate

► The thickness effect of TPU coating on solid particle erosion has been characterized. ► Our experiment results showed that the best thickness is around 0.75 mm. ► Finite element simulations were carried out to explain the thickness effect. ► Thermal effect causes the increase of erosion rate as thickness further increases.
