Heterogeneous reaction kinetics of epoxide-functionalized regenerated cellulose membrane and aliphatic amine

▸ The heterogeneous epoxy/amine reaction for epoxy-functionalized cellulose with excess amine is studied. ▸ Both isothermal and dynamic DSC data are analyzed. ▸ The heterogenous reaction is found to be first order autocatalytic. ▸ The activation energy is found to be higher than that for the homogeneous reaction. ▸ The higher Ea is attributed to steric effects caused by immobilization of the epoxide groups.
