Experimental validation of the calculation of phase holdup for an oil-water two-phase vertical flow based on the measurement of pressure drops

► An oil-water two-phase vertical flow has been investigated. ► A nozzle was designed to obtain the similar flow patterns in the U-tube. ► Oil holdups were calculated by measuring both the gravity and frictional pressure drops. ► Slip velocity was observed in vertical flows.
