The discharge and the velocity field of the delivery system in the top side-pouring twin-roll casting (TSTRC) were investigated combined with numerical simulation and water model experiment. The Renormalization Group k-ε model (RNG) and Reynolds Stress Model (RSM) were employed in the simulation, both showing high reliability and accuracy under various opening of the sluice gate. The variation trend of the outflow velocity and the flow rate fluctuation were explained with the development of the hydraulic jump and vortices in the flow fluid, with the analysis of the velocity field of the flow fluid in the canal of the delivery system. A formula was derived to predict the discharge with regard to the gate opening, showing good agreement with the experiment results. Compared to RNG, RSM performed better in predicting the discharge of the delivery system.
