KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT AND ENTERPRISE MODELLING: A COMPLEMENTARY VIEW

Study of complex entities such as organizations and their sub-systems requires a modular approach where knowledge from various organizational modules is collected and studied synergistically. As a modular approach, an enterprise modelling which is the art of externalizing enterprise knowledge can be applied in order to add value to the enterprise. The purpose of current study is to describe and highlight the similarities of two related fields -knowledge management (KM) and enterprise modelling (EM). The paper proceeds to develop a systematic approach to link the two fields by studying the roles and contributions of enterprise modelling initiatives in knowledge management.
