The paper presents the results of a mathematical simulation on a gas-liquid flow at cooling a cylindrical metal workpiece from constructional steel. The two-dimensional mathematical model of the nonstationary flow takes into account the axial symmetry of the cooling medium flow relative to the cylinder longitudinal axis. To solve the system of equation, the control volume approach is used. The flow field parameters for the gas-liquid medium are calculated with the help of the SIMPLE algorithm. For the iterative solution of the system of linear algebraic equations, Gauss-Seidel method with under-relaxation is used. The results of the numerical calculation are given for the parameters of convective heat exchange at the cylinder-heating initial temperature characteristic of high-temperature bodies, on the surface of which the cooling with the boiling of liquid takes place. During cooling by the gas-liquid medium flow with the velocities characteristic of the turbulent flow regime, the values of the heated cylinder temperatures are determined in the longitudinal and radial directions. The intensity of the variation of the metal-cylinder surface temperature is analyzed depending on the medium flow velocity and the time of the cooling process.
