My face through the looking-glass: The effect of mirror reversal on reflection size estimation

► People overestimate the projected size of their face on the surface of mirrors. ► We investigate this effect with a new computerized task. ► The overestimation bias can be modulated by prior exposure to a mirror. ► Reversed self-faces are significantly less overestimated than nonreversed faces. ► The face reversal effect shows an opposite pattern for non-self familiar faces.
