► 47% of the gas produced in Nigeria is flared. ► 457 mmt of CO2 was emitted from 1999 to 2009. ► CO2 emission reduced from 43 mmt in 1999 to 27 mmt in 2009. ► Estimated sum of 11 billion dollars is lost annually to gas flaring.
