Determination of the formation rate of phosphatidylethanol by phospholipase D (PLD) in blood and test of two selective PLD inhibitors

Formation of PEth was found to be dependent on the BAC. As a consequence, it is essential to inhibit PLD activity after blood collection to avoid post-sampling formation of PEth in blood samples with a positive BAC. Inhibition of PEth formation was more effective using FIPI, compared to halopemide.
