Éthique et religion dans la décision de recourir à l'assistance médicale à la procréation. Une première approche de la situation française

This article is the fruit of a survey realized in 2008-2009 with a sample of 2000 people, men and women, having resorted to the medically assisted procreation. The object of this study was to test the influence of the faith on the reception of the “bioethical laws”. This article gives its first teachings. We describe at first the social memberships of the considered persons. The access to the medically assisted procreation is not socially undifferentiated: it concerns essentially middle classes often untied from the religion. We approach then the moral conceptions of the actors. The survey shows that if they do not share religious ethics, these do not adhere to a total relativism. The law is looked now through the filter of an ethics of the otherness.
